Pontiac’s Community Navigator Program

About the Community Navigator Program:

The Center for Pontiac Entrepreneurship (CFPE), an initiative of the Pontiac Community Foundation, was awarded funding from the Small Business Administration to implement the Community Navigator Program. CFPE’s Community Navigator Program brings together resources to support underserved small businesses in the City of Pontiac. This program is designed to reduce barriers to accessing critical resources for small businesses—with a focus on micro-enterprises, cooperatives, and businesses in the early stages of development—owned by women, socially and economically disadvantaged, and underserved entrepreneurs.

Through the Hub & Spoke Model, CFPE will serve as the program “hub” connecting businesses to “spokes”— who assist Pontiac’s small businesses with various group trainings, one-on-one counseling, capacity building, capital access, and various other technical assistance and outreach support.

Program Service Area:

The Center for Pontiac Entrepreneurship’s Community Navigator Program specifically serves small businesses located in the City of Pontiac and Pontiac residents that are small business owners.

The Community Navigator Program provides trainings, technical assistance, and access to resources based on the needs of small businesses to enhance their growth. Priority is placed on businesses owned by women, veterans and individuals who are socially and economically disadvantaged.

Meet the Spokes:

The Center for Pontiac Entrepreneurship uses an innovative Hub and Spoke model to identify, plan and deliver services to identified clients. The power of this model is the collaborative approach with each organization building on its established strengths, resources, networks and reputations to achieve the intended results and goals.
